Regional turmoil notwithstanding, it seems Vimto will continue to keep its customers sweet.

In the early s, Richard Goodsir, a representative of the Kiwi boot polish company and a friend of John Noel Nichols, took a few samples of Vimto cordial to India with him for local bottling plants to try out. There was a ready made market on hand in the form of British troops, but the locals also developed a liking for Vimto and its popularity soon spread to neighbouring parts of the British Empire, including Ceylon now Sri Lanka and Burma now Myanmar.
When Indians began flocking to the Gulf to take up clerical jobs, many of them took some Vimto cordial with them. Invented at the height of the anti-alcohol Temperance movement in Britain, its non-alcoholic content made it both suitable and appealing to Muslim consumers.
The company struck a deal to become sole importers and distributors of the cordial. It was shipped in crates from Salford, offloaded in Bahrain and transported around the Arabian peninsula in dhows.

Vimto is now sold in over 3, ethnic outlets across North America, particularly loved by people who have moved there from Africa and the Middle East. Further brand growth meant relocating again to an even larger premise, with a shiny new factory too!
This time Vimto moved to Wythenshawe, South Manchester, where a fancy new Vimto bottling line was installed. In addition to the British heritage striped colours of blue, red and white on our products, Max the British Bulldog was also added to our branding. He even appeared in a few TV ads, where he was the star of the show!
