Why mazda rx8 cheap

It has a perfect weight distribution and low center of gravity making this the ultimate momentum car. The first time I rode in an RX-8 I almost shit my pants. I knew RX-8s weren't fast but I underestimated their handling.

It was my first week of college and a high school friend of mine just traded in his Chrysler Pacifica for a red RX As we tore through the surrounding Pennsylvania backroads I could tell his confidence was increasing.

We quickly approached a tight turn that my Nissan Altima could barely handle at 25 mph but RX-8 easily took it even with a young inexperienced driver. This confidence inspiring chassis and useable interior make the RX-8 a fairly capable car. Although it has a few flaws that make this a labor of love. First of all, it consumes gas and oil at an alarming rate. With a rating of 22 MPG highway and 16 City expect to spend plenty of money on premium fuel. While you're filling up your RX-8 don't forget to add the oil.

The RX-8 is said to burn about a quart every miles. Second, terrible reliability. The rotary engine barely makes it past ,miles, sure there are outliers but that seems to be the average. I'd suggest buying one that was recently rebuilt. Remember there's also something called the LS engine and yes it fits.

All this emotion comes at a hefty cost, though, as the Mazda RX-8 is one of the most unreliable cars you can buy. But is there be a way to make it more reliable?

The Achilles heel of the Mazda RX-8 is under the hood. Instead of pistons, the rotary engine uses rotors to operate, and over time, they tend to wear down. Basically, the rev-happy nature of the engine tends to make the apex seals, which are located on the edges of the rotors and make contact with the rotor housing, wear down quickly.

What engines are easy to slot into them? I quite like the later special editions, a V6 or V8 would fit nicely I reckon. I know one place trying to squeeze an MR2 Turbo engine into one I'm occasionally tempted by one of these like the looks and interior but having driven a friend's I have to agree that the performance is nothing special and the handling isn't good enough to make up for the other shortcomings.

Not really a big deal or expense though to swap motors on these. My friend bought a recon engine exchange with his one as part of the deal A work colleagues son had one, worst car he had ever owned and had alot of grief with it and trying to get rid as well.

All I can say is they are a little fragile if not maintained and as said very thirsty considering what it is. HugoBoss The Torque Meister. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge the RX8 is in no respect a replacement for the RX7, why on earth they called it the RX8 baffles me. It's a tuner dream car and no comparison between it and the RX8 can be made. TerryT Newbie. Mate of mine has one and as people have mentioned it absolutely guzzles fuel and synthetic. They also have a pretty annoying flooding issue when turning the car on then off without letting it warm up.

My mate has to drive round the block for a couple of minutes if he wants to move his car 12 inches, it's ludicrous. MasterAuron Very Senior Member.

Also there are a lot on the market, not forgetting the biggest effect on price is supply and demand RX-7 is still a rotary engine design so surely it has the same issues. Good to have you along with us. Hugo you missed out GTO's. My bad mate my bad, humble apology going out. Mazda RX-8 is a four seat car, sportier looking car. The car was a perfect blend of performance, style. The price of the car was above 2 lac.

But now the car is not available in Indian car mrket. RichiesTrucking Torque Junkie. Curd said:. Click to expand GTO are cool.
